Dr. Meghan Respess currently serves as the National Director of Blood Banking at BluePearl Veterinary Partners. She grew up and attended college in NC and graduated from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She completed a small animal rotating internship in 2010 followed by residency in Emergency and Critical Care 2010 - 2013, both at Tufts. She has been involved in blood banking programs at LSU, Tufts, Northstar Veterinary Specialty in NJ, as well as BluePearl since she joined the company in 2017. Since joining BluePearl, she has served as Medical Director of the Brooklyn, NY location for 3 years, Group Medical Director of the 7 hospitals within the Philadelphia market, and most recently in 2022 the Director of Blood Banking for the organization, an initiative led by herself and a nursing manager with organizational support, to expand donor programs, ensure highest medical quality, develop best practices based on current research / literature, provide educational awareness to the community at large, and ultimately, save lives. Her main clinical interests include blood banking and transfusion medicine, poly trauma, and critical anesthesia / surgery procedures. In her off time she and her wife, Mele, enjoy golfing, fishing, diving, searching for the most delicious benedict, and of course, snuggling with their dog on the couch. She welcomes the opportunity to support and serve on the Board of AVHTM.
